Vera Rogers, 81 of Montezuma passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City surrounded by her family. Vera Mae Rogers, the daughter of Edward and Mildred (Oepping) Windman, was born on May 24, 1936 in Muscatine County.

Vera was a 1954 graduate of Wilton High School. She was united in marriage to Dea Capper in 1958. To this union five children were born: Drent, Sherry, Lori, Yanette and Cindy. They later divorced. She was then married to Carl Blydenburgh in 1973.

Vera was a homemaker and ran an in-home daycare while raising her children and taking care of her family. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister.

Faith and family was very important to Vera. She was a devoted Christian and enjoyed her in-home Bible study where she was a prayer warrior to many. She attended church at the Community Life Church in Barnes City for a couple years, was a member of the Oskaloosa Assembly of God Church, and most recently the Lynnville Heart of Worship.

Vera enjoyed gardening, crafts, needle point and most of all caring for her many birds that she fed and considered her pets.

Her memory will be honored by her five children: Drent Capper of Montezuma, Sherry (& Mike) Nilson of Omaha, Lori Duggan of Montezuma, Yanette (& Dale) Graham of Montezuma and Cindy (& Mick) Gabel of Montezuma; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; three sisters: Shirley Walton, Nancy (& Jerry) Ochiltree and Betty (& Dick) Cram all of Wilton, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Carl Blydenburgh.

Funeral services will begin at 12:00 pm Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home in Montezuma.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be held in the Oakdale Cemetery in Wilton, Iowa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the family’s name.
