UNITED WAY OPENS SPECIAL GRANT FUNDING
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Board of Directors at United Way of Mahaska County is taking applications for special grant funding. Any non-profit, 501(c)3 human services organization can apply.
“The special grant process reflects United Way of Mahaska County’s strategic effort to expand services and reach into our community, by distributing additional dollars available to respond to local community needs,” explains United Way Executive Director, Brianne Fitzgerald. “For the past several years, the grants in this process have assisted non-profits in our county by helping fill a growing need that arose during the course of the year, or provided funding for something that their current budget couldn’t sustain. Without those extra funds, services could have been depleted and needs would have gone unmet in our county.”
According to Fitzgerald, special grant requests add up year after year, with only a set amount that can be awarded. Requests range from support with basic needs, projects, equipment, and various others, making the funding very competitive.
“These requests come from not only the non-profits we supported earlier in the year with our larger investment process, but also from other local human service organizations, which makes the process competitive, yet allows United Way to support a variety of local organizations,” states Fitzgerald.
Grant applications can be requested by phone at 641-673-6043, requested via email at unitedway@mahaska.org or found on the website at www.unitedwaymahaska.org. Applications are due to: Brianne Fitzgerald, Executive Director, United Way of Mahaska County, 500 High Avenue West, Oskaloosa, Iowa 52577 no later than noon on Tuesday August 7, 2012.
