Tyler LeRoy Evitt, age 35, of Ottumwa, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2019, at his home in Ottumwa. Tyler was born on May 14, 1983, in Sturgis, South Dakota, to Paul Wesley Evitt and Sheryl Lee VanLoon.

Tyler graduated from Wayne Community Schools in Corydon in 2002. He then obtained his Associate of Arts degree from Indian Hills Community College in 2005 before furthering his education at Iowa State University in Ames.

Tyler was talented with his hands and worked a long side his father at Evitt Pipe and Welding, as well as working at Trans Canada Booster Plant on the pipeline, Superior Machine and Relco in Albia, and was currently working at JBS in Ottumwa.

Tyler completed his baptismal journey, becoming a member of the Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Corydon. In high school, he competed in the National High School Rodeo Finals in team roping with his teammate, Cody Wright. Tyler enjoyed being outdoors, doing things such as hunting, fishing, and riding dirt bikes. Above all, Tyler loved spending time with his family and friends.

Tyler is survived by his parents, Sheryl Kaster of Albia and Paul (& Mary Ann) Evitt of Corydon; 2 stepbrothers, Wade Trzpuc of Fargo, ND and Troy Trzpuc of Corydon; and his grandfather, Howard Evitt of Corydon. Tyler is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Irvin and Patty VanLoon and Evelyn Evitt; and a brother, Cody Evitt.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at the Rush Cemetery in Benton Township in Wayne County, IA, with Pastor Leroy Perkins officiating.
Following the service, a time of fellowship and refreshments will be held at the Christ the Servant Lutheran Church in Corydon.

There will also be a graveside memorial service held at Highland Cemetery in Eddyville, IA, at a later date.
An open memorial has been established to the family.
