Two in Top 25 for William Penn at Warhawk Open

 

Addison, Ill.–Jayson Miner (Sr., Silvis, Ill., Business Management) recorded a top-10 finish as the Statesmen men’s bowling team placed in the middle of the pack at the Warhawk Open Saturday and Sunday.

WPU finished 14th out of 27 teams with 8,779 pins in six regular games and 16 Baker games. Mount Mercy was the top qualifier with 9,591 pins, but #6 seed Marian (Ind.) won the match play crown, defeating St. Francis (Ill.) in the finals.

Alex Acosta of Saint Xavier (Ill.) led the 276-player field with a 229.8 average (1,379 pins), while Miner also eclipsed 1,300 pins with 1,311 total.

The senior placed eighth overall with a 218.5 average, including five games over 200 (high of 237).

Bryce Keykal (So., Princeton, Minn., Education) also competed in all six games, finishing 22nd with a 207.8 average. He posted a high game of 266, which now stands as the highest game by a Statesmen this year.

Conor Fetherston (Fr., Dublin, Ireland) was next with a 193.4 average in five games, while Coleton Jacobson (Jr., West Jordan, Utah, Exercise Science) also started five rounds with a 188.0 mark.

Spencer Fleming (So., Greensboro, N.C., Business Management) averaged 180.8 pins over the span of four games, while Nate Hansen (Sr., Anchorage, Alaska, Industrial Technology) tallied a 196.0 clip in two games.

Jake Cook (Sr., Keokuk, Iowa, Physical Education), with a 177, and Jared Smith (Jr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, General Accounting), with a 167, both started one game.

Next Up: The Statesmen take a couple weeks off before traveling to Las Vegas, Nev. on December 18-19 to compete in the Glenn Carlson Las Vegas Invitational.
