Jimmy Silvers, 83, of Oskaloosa, died Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the Oskaloosa Care Center in Oskaloosa. He was born on August 3, 1943, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Everett and Rachel Dickerson Silvers.

Jimmy attended school in Oskaloosa. Following school, he joined the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1964.

On April 16, 1966, Jimmy was united in marriage to Linda Goodman in Oskaloosa.

Early on Jimmy worked at Clow Valve in Oskaloosa. He later owned and operated the Platime Supper Club east of Oskaloosa for many years. He treasured the relationships with the many loyal patrons that came to the restaurant to dine and share stories. In addition to owning and operating the restaurant, Jimmy worked at Iowa Automotive, he retired in 2006.

Jimmy was an avid bowler and golfer and was proud of the hole-in-one he made at Edmundson Golf Course. He enjoyed cheering for the Iowa Hawkeyes, camping, fishing, exercising, walking, working in the yard, and mowing. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

His family includes his wife of over 60 years Linda Silvers of Oskaloosa; a son and his wife, Marty and Alicia Silvers of Oskaloosa; a daughter in law, Maria Silvers of Oskaloosa; five grandchildren: Stephen (& Erica) Silvers, Jordan Silvers, Calvin Silvers, Camden Silvers, and Caleb Silvers; three great grandchildren: Landon, Leah, and Layton.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Denise Silvers; a son, Jimmy H. Silvers; two sisters: Gail McKee and Joyce McMullen; and a brother, Ronny Silvers.

Funeral services will be held Monday, September 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel with Reverend Jon Nelson officiating.
Graveside Military Honors will be given by members of the Oskaloosa American Legion and V.F.W.
Burial will be in the Henness Cemetery southwest of Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation: The family will be at the Bates Funeral Chapel on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
