Trump Train Rolls Into Ottumwa
Donald Trump campaigned on Saturday in Ottumwa to an overflowing crowd at the Bridge View Center.
Ottumwa, Iowa – The stages were set in Ottumwa for two of the biggest acts to hit the Bridge View Center at one time. Hairball, a wildly popular tribute band and Donald Trump, one of the front-runners to win the Iowa Caucus. Yes, there were comments about hair.
Donald Trump arrived in his usual manner, confident, verging on arrogant, and not so very politically correct, and the 600 plus individuals gathered inside the theater part of the Bridge View were living the moment up.
In all, over 1600 people were at the venue to see and be a part of the campaign stop.
Trump has called into question Sen. Ted Cruz’s status as a natural born citizen.”He’s got to straighten out his problem,” Trump said in regards to the Constitutional question about Cruz’s citizenship status of natural born citizen versus naturalized citizen.
“You can’t have that problem and go and be a nominee.”
Trump’s campaign has engaged many Iowans who have not been caucus goers, and is gaining support even among Democrats, who say they will vote for Trump if he’s the eventual nominee.
Trump is spending a large amount of time in Iowa, leading up to the February 1st caucus, in an attempt solidify his numbers and encourage those supporters to make it out to cast their vote.
“I think we’re going to have an amazing night,” Trump said of caucus night. In Trump’s usual style, he joked about Iowa and its caucus night selection, saying that Iowa hasn’t picked a winner and that he wouldn’t be worried if Iowa doesn’t select him. “If you pick me, you’re going to pick a winner. Because, we’re going to win, I’m telling you.”
Trump also took aim at Cruz over ethanol. “We don’t ever want to be held at gunpoint again. We don’t want that to happen,” said Trump. “As you know my primary opponent in Iowa [is Ted Cruz], only in Iowa because Ted isn’t doing well at all in New Hampshire. In Iowa he’s doing well. My primary opponent was totally opposed to ethanol and the ethanol industry because he’s with the oil industry.”
