Trozzi Makes First Appearance at Nationals

Vancouver, Wash.–Vernon Trozzi (Jr., Hesperia, Calif., Exercise Science) represented the William Penn men’s cross country team on the biggest stage Friday as he competed in the NAIA National Championship.

Trozzi placed 263rd out of 333 total runners on the 8K course with a time of 28:18.9. He is the program’s 15th national qualifier since WPU joined the NAIA in 2001.

The junior started well, sitting in 111th place with an opening-kilometer split of 3:10.1. Unfortunately, he tapered off with his next best split coming at 3:28.0.

Trozzi was an honorable-mention all-Heart of America Athletic Conference honoree, qualifying for nationals with a career-best time of 26:00.6 back on November 6.

Milligan (Tenn.) claimed the team title with 115 points, while Saint Mary (Kan.) was a distant second with 175 points.
