Oskaloosa Lightening and Oskaloosa Hurricanes teamed up to host the 5th Annual Lacey Longball Classic at the Lacey Recreation Complex over the Father’s Day weekend. Oskaloosa Heat and Osky Thunder competed in the 24 team tournament which consisted of three age divisions: 8U, 9U and 10U. Osky Thunder players sported pink “Team YaYa” t-shirts to show support for their teammate’s grandma, Kim Johnston. Osky Thunder coach, Chris Fynaardt, stated, “The team surprised Kim by changing into their t-shirts prior to their first game Saturday morning. After the game they each gave Kim one pink rose. Kim has been battling breast cancer and a benefit is being held on June 22nd at Edmundson Park at 1:00 p.m.” The benefit will consist of a bags (cornhole) tournament, kiddie games, food, Hy-Vee and Fareway raffles, a silent auction and more.
