Supervisors Move Forward With Secondary Road Union Contract

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County Board of Supervisors met on Tuesday at 1 p.m. in a combined normal meeting and vote canvas.

Deann De Groot, Mahaska County Agricultural and Rural Development (MCARD), spoke with the supervisors about the revolving loan fund, and an application for Town Square Dental.

De Groot said the expansion of the office would be adjacent to their current location on the Oskaloosa square.

The loan would be for $120,000 at 2.5% interest over 10 years.

Mahaska County Supervisor, Mike Vander Molen, sits on the revolving loan committee, and has recommended that the loan be approved. “We discussed this one more than some of the other ones,” added Vander Molen.

The motion passed unanimously.

Also approved unanimously was the second reading of Ordinance #53, regulating operation of ATV/UTV in Mahaska County.

The supervisors approved appointing 4 individuals to the Solid Waste Commission, which included supervisor-elect, Mark Groendyk.

The board discussed the new Secondary Road union contract. The board was split on signing the new contract, which would be retroactive. Van Weelden and Doland agreed to the measure. Vander Molen said no, and believes that the contract should be effective at the start of the next fiscal year.

The supervisors then canvassed the November 8th elections, and entered them into permanent and official record.
