Supervisors grant request for Mahaska Health Partnerships revisit on Urban Renewal

Mahaska County Supervisors hear from Mahaska Health Partnerships CEO Jay Christensen on February 7, 2011

Mahaska County Supervisors met, at 9:00 a.m. February 7, in regular session in the 3rd floor conference room.

  1. The first order of business was to approve the minutes from the January 10th, 12th, 13th, 17th, 18th and 25th meetings.
  2. The next was approval of bills for January 2011
  3. Jay Christensen of Mahaska Health Partnership brought a motion forward for the Supervisors to revisit the urban renewal proposal. Previously, in December of 2010, the Supervisors had rejected the designation for the urban renewal proposal brought to them by Mahaska Health Partnership. This motion restarts that process. There will be a public meeting on March 7, 2011 for those interested in speaking in favor of, or against the hospitals desire to have the County issue General Obligation Bonds on their behalf.
  4. Also passed was a liquor license for Pheasants Forever
  5. The Sheriff’s monthly reports were then approved.
  6. Detra Dettmann of Pathfinders gave an update on their current status. For those not familiar with Pathfinders and what they do, you can visit them at their WEBSITE HERE. Pathfinders is a non-profit organization that serves as an incubator for ideas and projects related to local economic development and natural resource conservation. Pathfinders serves six counties in southeast Iowa: Davis, Jefferson, Keokuk, Mahaska, Van Buren and Wapello.
  7. Payroll changes were approved for two employees at the jail.
  8. A letter was received from Heslinga Law Office over a residents complaint as to why their road is not being maintained. The matter was tabled until some issues with who the land owner was and the content of a responding letter were clarified.
  9. Letting for bridge replacement on 200th St. Section 19 of Monroe Township approved
  10. Letting for paving 1.9 of roadway south of Rose  Hill was approved
  11. Meeting adjourned. The next scheduled meeting is February 22nd at 9:00 am in the 3rd floor conference room.
