Supervisors Approve Updates To Law Enforcement Center

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska County Supervisors met in regular session on Wednesday afternoon. The day of the meeting has been changed due to Supervisor Mark Doland needing a different day due to his new job.

The supervisors approved the bids for roof replacement and the masonry project of the Mahaska County Law Enforcement Center.

Roof replacement comes in at $194,640.00, while the masonry bid came in at just over $658,000.00 to replace the outside of the center.

A public hearing was held for an ordinance restriction on secondary road G-77 to 25 mph 500′ east and west of the property line for the Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont School property line in Eddyville.

The board then adopted Ordinance #26 that restricts the speed limit at the EBF School property.

Also approved was a pay change for the Mahaska County Attorney’s Office.

Third quarter reports from the Mahaska County Recorder and Veterans Affairs were approved.

Approved a liquor license application for Eddyville Raceway Park.

Approved 28E agreements with Fremont and Eddyville for police protection for the cities. “We’re basically getting reimbursed for the time of the sheriff,” added Mahaska County Supervisor Mark Groenendyk.

The supervisors approved a rock trailer purchase, while hearing input on a tractor and boom mower and a forestry head with excavator.

Secondary roads recommendations for hiring a new truck driver were discussed.

Approved inclusion of guidelines in Mahaska County Employee Health Plan.

Approved County Employee Health Plan Renewal.
