Sun And Fun For Fitness Day

Students from the Oskaloosa Christian School enjoy a fitness day at the Lacey Complex on Wednesday.

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The warm days are nearly gone for the year, so the Oskaloosa Christian School took advantage of the weather to hold a fitness day at the Lacey Complex.

Jason Alons, principle at the Oskaloosa Christian School, was making his way around the soccer fields with his mobile PA to help to direct the activities and to add some sound effects to the games.

The 10 different ‘Chapel Groups’, comprised of students Kindergarten to Eighth grade, were doing different fitness activities. It could have been anything from kicking a soccer ball to stretching, relay races or ultimate Frisbee.

The thought was to be supportive of the efforts in Oskaloosa of becoming a ‘Blue Zone’ and to participate in various healthy activities was the foundation for the idea for Wednesday’s fun.

Alons said this was the schools way of saying, “We’re supporting Oskaloosa’s bid to be a healthier city.”

Even though this was this first such event, Alons says there may be more coming up in the future.
