OSKALOOSA, IA — You’re invited to a kick-off event for the Daily Youth Theatre’s Summer Theatre Camp! Join everyone at the George Daily Auditorium on Tuesday, June 3 from 6-8 p.m. In addition to getting information about the 2014 summer camp, parents and campers have a chance to meet the teaching staff, enjoy some snacks, play games, and preregister for camps.

“We’ll have a ton of fun and play some games! It’s also great opportunity to meet other campers and the teachers,” said Andy McGuire, Youth Theatre Director of the program.

The first week of summer camp starts on June 19th with “Superheroes for Hire,” where campers will write stories and scripts based on an original superhero they design. A showcase on Friday allows campers to share what they create.

The summer is packed with themed weeks, so campers can go to as many weeks as they like and have a different experience each time – and multiple week discounts make it easier.

“We don’t want cost to bar anyone from coming to camp,” said McGuire. “We have a multi-week, multi-student discount system, and we also offer scholarships and payment plans.”

Themed weeks this year include camps for kindergartners all the way through high school, and cover everything from the fantasy-based “Monsters & Castles” to the spooky “Daily Tales of Mystery.”

Jason Tipsword, Iowa’s only Society of American Fight Directors (S.A.F.D.) certified fight instructor, will return during the “Hunger Games” week. Tipsword will choreograph original scripts based around the popular series. Two “Musical Theatre” camps will again be taught by Allison Lingren. Lingren has a Masters of Music degree in Vocal Performance and will be teaching with the Youth Theatre all summer.

More comprehensive information can be found at www.georgedaily.org/youth/summer-camp or may be picked up at the George Daily Auditorium office. Inquiries or registrations can be directed to Andy McGuire at 641-672-3795 or youth@georgedaily.org.
