Steve died Wednesday, January 8, 2014, at his home in Coralville.
Steven DeWayne Daniels, son of Paul M. and Pearl Thomas Daniels, Jr., was born November 16, 1951, in Sigourney, Iowa. The family moved to Sigourney and then to Oskaloosa when Steve was a child. He married Aletha Hugen and they later divorced. He married Brenda Mitchell, August 23, 1983, at the United Methodist Church in New Sharon. To that union two sons were born, Jamie Leon and Steve Jared Daniels. Steve and Brenda later divorced. Steve was self-employed, owning and operating Mahaska Roofing. He later built “The North Forty Lounge”, which he owned and operated as well. Steve was an avid Hawkeye fan and all-around sports fan. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, mushroom hunting and the great out-doors.
His family include his sons and daughter-in-law: Jamie Daniels of New Sharon and Jared & Kayla Michelle Daniels of Deep River and a granddaughter, Lauren Elizabeth Daniels; his mother and her husband, Pearl & Robert Baird of What Cheer; a sister, Sharon Daniels of What Cheer and a brother, Gary Daniels of Tracy, Iowa.
In addition to his father, Steve was preceded in death by a brother, Danny Daniels.
Funeral services for Steve will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014, at the Garland-Van Arkel-Langkamp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Mark Dolan officiating.
Burial will be in Springfield Cemetery near Delta.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Friday; the family will be at the funeral chapel from 5-6 p.m. to greet visitors.
