Stepter Races to First AOW Laurel of Season

Oskaloosa–Carlos Stepter (Sr., Highland Park, Mich., Highland Park HS) was the fastest man on the track last Saturday in Mount Vernon and for his efforts he was named Midwest Collegiate Conference Men’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office Monday.

Stepter won his first award of the year (third in his career–other two in 2009) by claiming the 55-meter dash title at the Cornell Hilltop Invitational last weekend.  He eclipsed the NAIA’s automatic-qualifying time by 0.02 seconds and will now compete in the 60-meter dash at next month’s national meet.

He becomes the fifth Penn athlete to qualify for the indoor nationals.

It is the fourth honor for Penn’s indoor track and field programs this year.
