Las Vegas, Nev.–Quincy Bruce (Sr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, General Accounting) was an all-tournament performer, while Curtis Majka (Sr., Elgin, Ill., Mechanical Engineering) was also in the top 10 as the William Penn men’s bowling team was near the top of the standings at the Las Vegas Collegiate Shoot-Out Wednesday and Thursday.

William Penn placed third out of 36 teams with 11,609 pins in six regular games and four sets of Baker games. Webber international (Fla.) earned the team title with 12,163 pins, while Matt Russo of WIU was the best individual with a 243.7 average. WPU was just 19 pins behind second place Newman (Kan.).

Bruce finished fifth overall to collect his all-tourney laurel, averaging 233.5 pins per game (over 200 in all six games); he was only 51 pins behind Russo. Majka was not far back of his teammate, ending up 10th at 228.2.

Sean Martin (Fr., Dayton, Ohio, Mechanical Engineering), at 213.8, and Rok Kostric (Fr., Koper, Slovenia, Sports Management), at 209.8, were also over the 200 mark and also played in all six games.

Nick Walker (Jr., Zeeland, Mich., Business Management) owned a 173.0 clip in four games, while Aleksander Kostric (Fr., Koper, Slovenia, Sports Management) knocked down an average of 176.5 pins in two starts.

William Penn’s JV team was in competition as well and crushed the rest of the JV field with 9,265 pins. Bret Keimig (Sr., Davenport, Iowa, Physical Education) was the crew’s top roller at 186.3, while Rylie Reidel (Sr., Knoxville, Iowa, Business Management) also rolled in all six games at 176.2.

Noah Cheever (Fr., Dubuque, Iowa, Secondary Education), at 187.4, and Mike Comstock (Fr., Pella, Iowa, General Accounting), at 169.4, both started five games. Josh Fane (So., Brownsville, Wis., Business Management and Accounting) competed in three rounds with a 182.7 clip. Austin Young (Fr., Iowa City, Iowa, Business Management) (two games, 174.5), Logan Mason (Jr., Knoxville, Iowa, Business Management) (two games, 145.5), and Chaise Donner (Fr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Sports Management) (one game, 160) also hit the lanes.

Next Up: William Penn travels to Addison, Ill. on January 20-21 to compete in the Kegel/ISBPA Midwest Collegiate Classic.
