Statesmen of the Week: Spencer Tucker and Gabriana Franco
Oskaloosa–Golfers Spencer Tucker (Sr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Sports Management) and Gabriana Franco (Fr., Tracy, Calif., Exercise Science) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of September 12-18, presented by Gardner-Collier Jewelry.
Tucker won last week’s Navy and Gold Classic by tying a pair of school records. He opened with a two-under 69 on Monday before dropping a few more strokes to a six-under 65 on Tuesday for a final two-day tally of 134. He tied the program’s 18 and 36-hole records en route to helping the Statesmen to the team victory as well. Tucker recorded 10 birdies in his tournament crown.
In her first collegiate tournament, Franco won the medalist honor by posting scores of 78 and 72 for a final two-day tally of 150. Franco bested the next-closest competitor by three strokes and guided William Penn to the season-opening team title. She posted three birdies during the tournament.
