Statesmen of the Week: Mario Palain and Leah Conlon

Oskaloosa–Men’s golfer Mario Palain (Fr., Zaragoza, Spain, Business Management) and softball player Leah Conlon (Fr., Sioux City, Iowa, Exercise Science) have been named the Statesmen of the Week for the week of April 20-26.

Palain placed 13th at the Missouri Valley Invitational last Monday and Tuesday. The freshman, who recorded four birdies and one eagle at the Invitational, posted rounds of 74, one-under 71, and even-par 72 for a final tally of 217.

Conlon hit .588 (10-for-17) last week, helping the Statesmen to a 3-1 record against Clarke and Mount Mercy. She managed one double, eight RBIs, and one run scored. The freshman also stole one base.

She tallied three multi-hit games with her best performance coming against Mount Mercy last Saturday. In that extra-inning win, Conlon was 4-for-6 with three RBIs and one run scored.
