Oskaloosa–The William Penn men’s basketball team will open Heart of America Athletic Conference Tournament action Wednesday night as it hosts MidAmerica Nazarene in Penn Gymnasium.

WPU (26-3) enters as the #1 overall seed and will face the #8-seeded Pioneers (16-14) in the quarterfinal round at 7 p.m. MNU, which was the South Division’s #3 seed, advanced through the play-in round with a 74-59 victory over Clarke (North #6 seed).

The squads met in Olathe, Kan. on February 10 with William Penn defeating MidAmerica Nazarene 78-71. Aakim Saintil (Sr., West Orange, N.J., Business Management) paced the victors with 21 points, while Terrell Thompson (Sr., Indianapolis, Ind., Wellness and Recreation) was next with 20 points.

The Statesmen are seeking their third-straight league tournament title.

Wednesday’s winner will then play the winner of #4 seed Peru State vs. #5 seed Grand View Friday at the site of the highest remaining seed. The Heart Championship Game is slated for next Monday at the site of the highest remaining seed.

Admission for the game is $8 for adults and $5 for college students and children 18 and under. No game passes will be allowed for conference tournament games, but NAIA passes will be accepted.
