Statesmen Enter Nationals 23rd in the Country
William Penn Women’s Athletics
Oskaloosa–A slight drop after a five-tournament winning streak will likely give the William Penn women’s golf team plenty of motivation for the national tournament as the NAIA’s final top-25 poll was released Thursday.
William Penn fell one rung to #23 in the current rating with 149 points. After starting the year with seven consecutive runner-up finishes, the program has collected five wins in a row, including last week’s Midwest Collegiate Conference Championships–the first in school history.
SCAD Savannah (Ga.) remains #1 with 497 points and 16 first-place votes. Oklahoma City and British Columbia are sharing the final two first-place votes in second and third, respectively. Cumberlands (Ky.) and Northwood (Fla.) round out the top five.
Fellow MCC foe Grand View is tied for 33rd with three votes.
The NAIA National Championships will be contested from May 20-23 at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb.
