Statesmen Compete at Augsburg Invitational

Minneapolis, Minn.–The William Penn wrestling team had numerous individuals compete in three separate divisions at the Augustana Auggie-Adidas Invitational Saturday.

The event included a Gold, Silver, and Bronze division and the navy and gold had a placewinner in all three divisions.

GOLD
Darquell Pierre (So., St. Petersburg, Fla., Sociology) placed sixth at 133 pounds, going 2-2 with one fall, while Tyshon Cannon (Jr., LaGrange, Ga., Psychology) claimed a win at 141 pounds.

SILVER

Joe Eads (Fr., Morrison, Ill., Biology) lost his opening match at 141 pounds, but rallied back with two victories on the consolation side to win that bracket. The freshman posted one win by fall and another by technical fall.

Sheldon Rodriguez (So., Tampa, Fla., Biology) picked up one triumph to take sixth at 165 pounds, while 125-pounder Nadhelo Charles-Pierre (Fr., Miramar, Fla., Sports Management), 157-pounder Dennis Simmons (So., Tucson, Ariz., Sociology), and 197-pounder Jahmahr Hyacinthe (Fr., Pembroke Pines, Fla., Sociology) all earned one win Saturday.

BRONZE

Sam Brophy (So., Pahrump, Nev., American History and Government) had his hand raised once by major decision at 149 pounds to finish fourth, while 165-pounder Dylan Comstock (Fr., New Sharon, Iowa, Business Management and General Accounting) defeated a single opponent to finish sixth.

Next Up: William Penn takes a week off before traveling to Kirksville, Mo. to face Truman in a dual meet at 7 p.m.
