Statesmen Again Showing Out in the NAIA, USBC

 

Oskaloosa–With a few tournaments under their belts, the William Penn bowling teams are starting to see how they align with the rest of the nation.

Courtesy of three top-five finishes, the William Penn women sit second in the NAIA’s first RPI ranking at .660 and are tied for 25th in the USBC with 1,967 points. SCAD-Savannah (Ga.) leads the NAIA at .660, while Mount Mercy is first in the USBC (3,165 points).

The Statesmen men come in at 18th in the NAIA (.546 rating) and 71st in the USBC (1,157 points), while Lawrence Tech (Mich.) is first in both the NAIA (.648) and USBC (3,331 points).

The WPU women started the year placing third at the Mid-States Championship and then took fourth at the Jayhawk Collegiate Challenge. Most recently, WPU was third at the ISYL Leatherneck Classic.

Isabel Diaz (So., Kissimmee, Fla., Communications) has been the most consistent bowler for the ladies with a 191.5 average.

The men have placed in the top half of each of their events, finishing 13th, ninth, and 18th, respectively. Five members of the Statesmen squad average at least 190 pins per game.

Both teams return to competition on December 3-4, traveling to Addison, Ill. for the Warhawk Open.
