During the public comment portion of the meeting, the agency heard from two interested individuals John Bandstra and Daniel Nugteren.
A motion was made to accept the written comments from the public into the meeting minutes. The motion passed on a 3-1 vote.
The board passed a resolution to approve electing officer positions.
Those officers for the upcoming year are Jim Hansen, Chair, Joe Warrick, Vice Chair, and David Barnes, Secretary-Treasurer. The motion passed 4-0. This resolution also authorized board member Sid Pinney to fill the role of Vice Chair in the event of the absence of the Mahaska County representative (Joe Warrick).
The board also approved the 2018-19 budget for the agency on a 4-0 vote.
Jerry Searle with HDR presented information to the SCRAA board that the initial steps are underway to acquire land for the new regional airport. “One of the first steps in the land acquisition process, as established by FAA, is to provide an opportunity for public comment and meet specifically with the affected property owners related to the proposed land acquisition.”
That meeting will take place at 3 pm, on April 5th, inside the Pella Public Safety Complex.
Searle explained that preparations are underway to make plats of land to be sold at the current Oskaloosa Airport.
The sale of land at that facility will fund the early stages of land acquisition for the new regional airport.
No date was set for the next official meeting of the SCRAA board.
