Smith Receives CSC Academic All-District Recognition

Oskaloosa–William Penn women’s basketball player Dekota Smith (Jr., Toledo, Ohio, Computer Science) was honored for a strong 2025-2026 season in and out of the classroom as she earned an academic all-district honor from College Sports Communicators Tuesday.

Smith entered the spring semester with a 3.60 Grade Point Average. The junior, who is a first-time recipient of the award, averaged 9.1 points and 3.7 rebounds this year. She also posted 33 assists, 21 steals, and eight blocks, while shooting 38.3% from the floor.

Smith helped WPU to a 7-21 record during the winter, including a 4-16 mark in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

The award combines both athletic and academic achievements. To be eligible for the award, individuals must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been enrolled at the nominating institution for one year (transfers use grades from their previous institution), and have a 3.50 Grade Point Average. Additionally, individuals must compete in 90% of games or start in at least 66% of games.
