Morris is a 1 ½ year old neutered male. Morris was adopted from the shelter as a kitten and returned when his owner had to move to an apartment that would not allow pets. Morris is a very loving cat that loves people. As soon as you touch Morris he is purring. He loves nothing more than to help you while you are working on the computer or busy with something. He tolerates dogs as long as they know he’s the boss.
Cindy Lou is a 2 year old female Cocker Spaniel mix. Cindy Lou was released to us by her owner because they had recently moved to an apartment and were not allowed to have pets there. Cindy Lou is unsure of people at first but once she gets to know you then you have a friend for life. Cindy Lou would probably be better off in a quiet home with no children. She is a little nervous, but has lots of energy, She will immediately roll over for a tummy rub when she is used to you and you want to pet her.

ADOPTING A FRIEND
Interested in adopting a new best friend? There is an adoption application to submit at least 24 hours prior to adoption (waiting period may be waived at the Director’s discretion). If you live out of town you may request an application by email: smasadoptions@mahaska.org. You may also use the PDF link below to print out the application. After you complete it, please fax it to 641-672-9347. Or, download the WORD version to save, complete, and email the application as an attachment. (If you send it by email, don’t worry about the signature line.) We will contact you after we receive your application.
Completing an application does not obligate you to adopt; it just puts you next in line for that particular pet. We place temporary “holds” on pets based on the order of applications received. (Please understand that we try to give every pet every chance for a good home and are in constant need of kennel space; therefore, we cannot normally “hold” a pet for longer than 24 hours.)
