Six Teens Injured In Rollover Accident

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Iowa State Patrol is investigating an accident west of Oskaloosa, on Highway 92, that injured 6 teens from Indianola on Friday night just after 7 pm.

The Iowa State Patrol Crash Report says that two 14-year-old males, three 16-year-old and a 17-year-old male were all injured in the crash.

The 2005 Ford F-250 was being driven by a 16-year-old male from Indianola, and was traveling east on Highway 92. According to the Iowa State Patrol, he attempted to pass 2 other vehicles, crossed over into the oncoming lane, dropping off the edge of the roadway and onto the west-bound shoulder of the road, losing control and rolling into the north ditch.

All six males in the truck were injured, with 4 of the injuries being transported to Mahaska Health Partnership. One 14-year-old male was transported by ambulance to a Des Moines area hospital, and the sixth, a 17-year-old, was transported by helicopter to a Des Moines hospital.

All were wearing seatbelts with the exception of the 17-year-old, who was not.

The accident remains under investigation. Besides the Iowa State Patrol, the Mahaska County Sheriffs Office, Oskaloosa Police Department and Oskaloosa Fire all responded.
