Oskaloosa–Omar Sherman (Sr., Duncanville, Texas) dominated down low last week and his efforts were good enough to net him Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week honors Monday.

Sherman won his first award after leading #2 WPU (9-0, 3-0 Heart) to a trio of victories.

The senior averaged 26.7 points and 8.3 rebounds in addition to also recording eight assists, six blocks, and five steals. He shot 69.8% from the field and 66.7% from the free-throw line.

Following a 26-point effort against Missouri Valley and a 19-point performance versus Wright State Lake, Sherman managed a double-double of 35 points and 10 rebounds against Shawnee State. He was 17-for-25 from the field against SSU.

For the year, Sherman is averaging 19.0 and 8.3 rebounds, while also tallying 23 assists, 14 blocks, and eight steals. He is shooting 70.0% overall and 53.3% at the line. Sherman has reached double figures in scoring in all nine games thus far and has tallied three double-doubles.

The award is the second for WPU this year.
