Oskaloosa–Ashley Miller (Jr., Kalona, Iowa, Exercise Science) is enjoying a lot of early-season success and Monday she garnered some well-deserved recognition by being named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Volleyball Defender of the Week.

A four-time winner in her career (second time this fall), Miller paced her team’s defense as William Penn posted a pair of victories last week. The junior managed 124 digs in five matches for an average of 7.29 digs per set. Her week was highlighted by a 36-dig effort against Saint Mary; she eclipsed 30 digs in three of WPU’s five matches.

Miller also tallied three kills, nine assists, and four aces.

For the year, Miller has managed 311 digs (6.62 per set) in addition to six kills, 37 assists, and 11 aces. She ranks third in the nation in digs per set and fourth nationally in total digs (first in Heart in both categories).

The award is WPU’s second of the season.
