Sea Chanters Dock At George Daily

Oskaloosa, Iowa- The Sea Chanters dropped anchor in Oskaloosa Thursday night on their eleventh stop of a eighteen stop tour. This years tour takes the group through the northern part of the United States, which includes stops in seven states.

The Sea Chanters are just one of six primary performing groups in the United States Navy Band. The other groups include: Commodores, Country Current, Chamber Ensembles, Concert Band, and Cruisers. There are also a host of smaller ensembles.

The Sea Chanters is the official chorus of the United States Navy Band.

Senior Chief Musician Georgina L. Todd is the unit leader of the Sea Chanters. The group consists of 22 members, which includes 18 vocalists, 3 instrumentalists and 1 audio technician.

The chorus performed a wide variety of music ranging from traditional sea chanteys and patriotic songs to opera, Broadway, and contemporary music. The group also performed a couple of musical skits that received uproars of laughter from the audience.
