A Saturday morning accident resulted in no major injuries

An 11:32 a.m. accident at the intersection of A Ave East and 3rd Street when a stopped vehicle attempting to turn, was rear ended by a West bound car.

The 1999 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Mary Walker was stopped at the intersection with her turn signal on, indicating she was turning, when she was struck from behind by Orville Jorgenson.

Jorgenson was driving West on A Ave when he failed to notice Walker waiting on East bound traffic, so that she could make her left turn. Jorgenson’s 2008 Toyota Prius struck the back of the Walker vehicle. Damage estimates to both vehicles were estimated at nearly $10,000. Walker was transported by private vehicle from the scene of the accident.

Jorgenson was cited for failure to stop in a safe distance.
