Oskaloosa, Iowa – A warm summers evening had 8 people swimming for shore or being picked up by other nearby boaters, on August 6th around 7:12.
The Oskaloosa Fire Department responded “not knowing if there was a drowning or if they had to be rescued, so we ran hot out there.” said Oskaloosa Fire Captain Tim Nance.
Once they arrived, there was no need for the rescue boat to even deploy as everyone was accounted for either in another boat or on shore by that point. “I think they got miscommunicated who was going left and who was going right.” Nance said on the accident.
No arrests were made at the scene. Mahaska Health Partnership’s ambulance and the Mahaska County Deputies also responded to the scene.
One speed boat did capsize after damage to the bow of the craft was sustained.
