Sand Talks PIE And Other Efficiencies On The Square In Oskaloosa

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The second politician to make their way to Oskaloosa this past week was Iowa Auditor Rob Sand.

Sand is the Auditor for the State of Iowa and one of the few Democrats to hold top-level positions within the State Government.

Sand took office in January of 2019. During the pandemic, he hosted many of his town hall-type meetings virtually but has recently started making the return to in-person meetings.

Meetings like the one on the Oskaloosa square are held outdoors; a place Sand says he likes to be.

Sand, who before being elected, was a prosecutor for the state’s attorney general office, where he often prosecuted public officials for their alleged crimes.

“We have got more accountability and seeing government than we’ve had in a very long time,” Sand said to the group of just over a dozen who had gathered.

Sand quoted an unnamed Republican elected official as saying, “And I have never seen more middle managers and bureaucrats worried about what the state auditor might think.”

One of the programs Sand has developed and highlighted is PIE. PIE stands for Public Innovations and Efficiencies.

Sand did answer a few questions from those in attendance but highlighted the different programs and achievements during his time in office.
