Roy Ferguson, 66 of New Sharon passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at his home near Union Mills. Roy C. Ferguson, the son of Earl and Audrey (Busby) Ferguson, was born on April 2, 1951 in Union Township near New Sharon, Iowa.

Roy attended school at Lacey before graduating from North Mahaska High School in 1969.

Roy married Donna Bond on October 2, 1970 at the Assembly of God Church in New Sharon. To this union one son was born, Todd. They later divorced.

Roy first farmed with his father before farming on his own. He also worked at Taintor COOP before working several years at Vermeer Manufacturing in Pella, eventually retiring from there.

Roy was very active with his son, Todd, coaching him in Little League for several years and was his 4-H Leader. As a kid, Roy was also involved in 4-H and enjoyed showing his Angus Cattle at the Mahaska County Fair and the Iowa State Fair. Roy was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed watching his great nephew and niece with all of their sporting events. Roy was a lifelong member of the Union Mills Christian Church.

His memory will be honored by his siblings: Peggy Heyveld of Burlington, Linda Ferguson of New Sharon, Ruth (& Wayne) Hasley of Searsboro and Luann (& Craig) Montgomery of New Sharon; a daughter-in-law, Carol Ferguson of Beatrice, Nebraska; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Todd Ferguson; and a brother, David Ferguson.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 pm Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Union Mill Christian Church.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Union Mills Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Roy’s name to the Roy Ferguson Estate.
