Robert Hall, 87 of Montezuma, Iowa died on Monday, May 8, 2017 at the Montezuma Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Robert (Bob) was born on January 21, 1930 in Malcom, Iowa.
After graduation from Montezuma High School in 1947, he married Dema Mae Davis on Jan 14, 1951 in the Montezuma Methodist Church Chapel. Bob served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict.
For most of his career Bob ran his own business, Robert Hall Tiling, installing farm drainage tile. In addition, he raised cattle and row crop on his acreage. Earlier in life he worked on road construction for Duffus Road Construction, where he demonstrated and operated the LeTourneau-Westinghouse scraper. As an employee of Poweshiek County, he drove a maintainer and served as County Shop foreman. Before being self-employed in the tiling business, Bob directed operations at the first Poweshiek Co. Landfill. In retirement, he kept busy hauling gravel and assisting in various construction projects in the local area.
Bob’s hobbies were working on antique tractors and other farm equipment. He enjoyed frequenting flea markets where he collected belt buckles, key chains and farm toys. He was a skilled mechanic and welder. He enjoyed making lawn ornaments out of scrap metal. Heading into town to meet friends for coffee was a favorite pastime for him.
He is survived by his sons, Craig (& Marge) Hall of Meeteetse, WY and Chris (& Linda) Hall of Centennial, CO; grandsons Patrick (& Katie) Hall of Ames, IA, Clark (& Emma) Hall of Badger, IA , Benjamin Hall of Centennial, CO, and Matthew Hall of Centennial, CO.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dema Mae (Davis); and his sister, Frances Kimber of Vallejo, CA.
We wish to thank the nursing staff and administration at the Montezuma Nursing Center for the care Bob received during this past year and most recently the Hospice team who provided care and comfort to Bob and his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 15, 2017 at the Holland-Coble Funeral Home. Holland-Coble Funeral Home of Montezuma is in charge of arrangements.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Jackson Township cemetery, Montezuma.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montezuma Ministerial Association.
