Oskaloosa, Iowa – On February 12, 2014, at 12:17 p.m., an “Order of Discharge” was entered into record in the Iowa District Court for Mahaska County. According to this order, “Alicia Ritenour, Defendant”, who “is detained by you (the Sheriff of the County of Mahaska and the Chief of Police, Oskaloosa, Iowa) on commitment (or indictment or conviction as the case may be) to answer a charge for the offense of Murder in the 1st Degree and Child Endangerment Resulting in Death having given sufficient bail to answer the same, you are commanded forthwith, to discharge such person from custody”.

Ritenour’s next court date has yet to be set and will be determined by the court. Surety bond was signed for by Yes Bail Bonds of Des Moines, an agent for Lexington National Insurance Corp. based in Lutherville, Maryland.

Alicia Ritenour has been accused of Murder in the 1st Degree, a Class “A” Felony and Child Endangerment Resulting In Death, a Class “B” Felony.

Ritenour made her initial appearance before Mahaska County Magistrate Judge Scott Campbell on February 5th, 2014. Campbell set Ritenour’s bond on the murder charge at $100,000 and the child endangerment charge remains at $25,000 cash or surety on both.

According to Iowa law, the prosecution can ask to have the bail re-examined.

A criminal charge is merely a criminal charge and not an indication of guilt. All suspects should be considered innocent until proven guilty
