Richard Dusenberry

C. Richard Dusenberry, 75, of Oskaloosa died Monday, June 23, 2014, at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella. He was born November 4, 1938, in Mahaska County the son of Harold Howard and Kathylene Durham Dusenberry.

Richard graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1957. On September 21, 1957, he was united in marriage to Charlene Terrell at Davenport.

Richard worked various places throughout his career including: a local grocery store; Pella Corporation for 10 years; a Mobil Gas Station in Oskaloosa; Pepsi Cola in route sales, as a supervisor, and in truck maintenance; Budweiser in Ottumwa in route sales; Jim Hugen Machining; Kelderman Manufacturing for 8 years; Oskaloosa Community Schools; Midland Metals; and last Hy-Vee in Oskaloosa. He also enjoyed helping Terry Crew at Century Lawn in Oskaloosa.

Richard enjoyed restoring and collecting pedal cars and tractors and taking trips in his El Camino and go-cart.

His family includes his wife of over 56 years, Charlene Dusenberry of Oskaloosa; three daughters: Rhonda Lynn (Jerry) Brummel of Pella, Vicki Rae (Kevin) Hladik of University Park, and Tressie Dusenberry (Shellie Evenson) of Gridley, California; his son: Alvin (Stephanie) Stainbrook of Conrow, Texas; four grandchildren: Zachary (Sarah) Brummel, Grant Hladik, Justin Stainbrook and Charleigh Anne Stainbrook; two great grandchildren: Hunter Brummel and Parker Brummel; his mother, Kathylene Dusenberry of Oskaloosa; a sister, Frances (John) Stek of Oskaloosa; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father; a grandson, Taylor Brummel; a granddaughter, Jessica Stainbrook; and his step mother, Mardell Allgood.

As was Richard’s wish, his body has been cremated and no services are planned. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
