OSKALOOSA, IA — Iowa landscapes and barns are the primary subject of local artist Nancy O’Brien’s exhibit at the George Daily Auditorium. Celebrate her work at a reception on Thursday, April 16 from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m. People are invited to view the exhibit, talk to the artist, and enjoy refreshments and snacks.

Nancy O’Brien, M.D.’s only official art training comes from high school art classes. Despite the fact that art was not her chosen career, a very dedicated professional artist and teacher encouraged her to keep creating. With that support, Dr. O’Brien did continue working with various mediums throughout her life. Ten years ago, health problems made her medical practice impossible but opened up more time to work on her art. Although the majority of O’Brien’s work is in pastel pencil, her preferred media, she also works in ink and acrylics. Iowa landscapes and barns are among her favorite subjects.

Nancy O’Brien’s work will be up at the George Daily Auditorium through the end of April. Also on display in the auditorium lobby is art from Oskaloosa High School students.
