Randy Dean Mickles, 44, of Newton, and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at his home in Newton. He was born March 3, 1970, at Oskaloosa, the son of Charles and Betty Phillips Mickles.

Randy graduated from the Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1988. Following graduation he attended Vennard College for a time. He was currently working at Maytag Dairy Farm in Newton.

Randy enjoyed singing, riding his bike, and playing various sports. He delighted in spending time with his children.

His family includes his mother, Betty Mickles of Oskaloosa; six children: Clayton Hatley, Cassandra Mickles, Clinton Borger, Charlie Borger all of Oskaloosa, Destiny Phillips, and Damein Phillips of Newton; two brothers: Raymond (Jenny) Mickels of Oskaloosa and Todd Mickles of Beacon; two sisters: Tammy (Gene) Curtis of Lovilla and Jodie Mickles (Larry Collett) of Beacon; his significant other, Melody Phillips; three step children: Shelby Rice, Jason Kerr, and Dillon Phillips.

Randy was preceded in death by his father; his grandparents; and an infant nephew, Jenkins Mickles.

Graveside memorial service and burial will be held Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 10 a.m. in the White Oak Cemetery southeast of Oskaloosa with Pastor Del Bittner officiating.
A procession will form at 9:30 Saturday morning at the Bates Funeral Chapel for those wishing to go to the cemetery. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
As was Randy’s wish his body has been cremated and no visitation is planned.
Memorials may be made to the family of Randy Mickles.
