Queen Bees Sting Penn Women 3-0 in Regular Season Finale‏

William Penn University Athletics

Davenport–The Lady Statesmen soccer team ended the regular season with a 3-0 loss to St. Ambrose in Midwest Collegiate Conference play Thursday.

In a make-up game from last Saturday, the loss leaves Penn (5-10-3, 1-6-1 MCC) as the #8 seed in the MCC Tournament. The Lady Statesmen open the tournament Saturday with a quarterfinal matchup against top-seeded Ashford in Clinton at 4 p.m. The Saints knocked off Penn 4-1 in Clinton on September 29.

Ashley Dexter put the Queen Bees (13-5, 7-1 MCC) ahead in the 14th minute. St. Ambrose will share the league’s regular season crown, but a loss to Ashford earlier in the year puts the team as the #2 seed.

Dexter then assisted on the next two goals, which were scored in the 34th and 76th minutes.

Victoria Schiebel (Sr., Mansfield, Texas, Mansfield HS) led the visitors with two shots as Penn was outshot 16-4.

Aubree Gallego (So., Arlington, Texas, Mansfield Legacy HS) recorded seven saves in the loss.
