The Mahaska County Conservation Board is hosting a Night Prairie Burn at the Russell Wildlife Area on Friday, April 11. Beginning promptly at 7:30 pm a short talk will be given on prescribed prairie burning inside the conservation center. Then, we will go outside the conservation center to watch the Mahaska County Pheasants Forever burn crew burn the prairie. Last year’s burn was awesome! Don’t miss this one.

Please note that weather conditions must be suitable for burning. Due to rain and/or high winds…watch Mahaska County Conservation on Facebook or call (641)673-9327 for any cancellations.

The Russell Wildlife Area is located four miles north of Oskaloosa on Hwy. 63 and one mile east on 200th Street.
