POY Award to Foster, Barboza and Coach Van Wyk Honored as Well
Oskaloosa–Cameron Foster (Jr., West Jordan, Utah, Business Management) has had an incredible year and the league’s coaches rewarded him as the all-Midwest Collegiate Conference men’s bowling team was announced Wednesday.
Foster topped the five-person squad as the league’s Player of the Year, while teammate Brandon Barboza (So., Brick, N.J., Sociology) joined him on the all-MCC team. It is the third-straight season that William Penn has taken home the POY accolade (Sean Rangel the past two years). Foster is a now a two-time honoree, while Barboza’s award is his first.
Joe Kopera of St. Ambrose was named the league’s Newcomer of the Year, while Statesmen Head Coach Mark Van Wyk earned MCC Coach of the Year honors from his peers for the third year in a row.
Through 56 games, Foster has posted an MCC-leading 208.6 average, including a season-high game of 269. The junior has six top-25 finishes, including four top-ten placings. He was a campaign-best fourth at last weekend’s MCC Championships. Through February 10, he was ranked 27th in the nation according to collegebowling.com
Barboza is third on the team in scoring average at 194.1, including a high of 268. The sophomore won the Blue and Gold Classic on January 20.
