Phyllis Jean Molkenthin, 84, of Ollie passed away December 22, 2013 at Iowa City Hospice House in Iowa City, Iowa.
Phyllis was born March 15, 1929, in Washington County to Elmer and Alta Guenther. She graduated from Washington High School, Washington, Iowa, in 1947 and from Paris Beauty School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1949. On February 25, 1951 Phyllis was united in marriage to Herbert Molkenthin In Washington, Iowa.
Phyllis was a member of Prairie View United Methodist Church, Mahaska County Traveling Chiefs and the Ottumwa Card Club. She enjoyed crafts of all kinds, playing Sudoku, camping at the Iowa State Fair for 50+ years, but her greatest love was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by a daughter, Beverly Molkenthin; a son, Robert (Gail) Molkenthin both of Ollie, four grandchildren, Sandra (Shawn) McBeth of Hedrick; Micheal Molkenthin of Alexandria, VA; Trenton Molkenthin of Ollie; Kelsey Molkenthin of Des Moines; four great grandchildren, Kaden, Kale, Kory, “baby girl to be” McBeth, all of Hedrick, and a brother, William (Carolyn) Guenther of Washington.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Herbert, and a sister Maxine.
Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. December 26, 2013 at Prairie View United Methodist Church near Ollie, Iowa.
Funeral Service: 11:00 A.M. December 27, 2013 at Prairie View United Methodist Church near Ollie, Iowa.
Interment: Pennington Cemetery near Sigourney, Iowa
Memorials may be made in her name to the family.
