Perez Picks Up Second Weekly Award of Freshman Season
Oskaloosa–Avy Perez (Fr., Mission Hills, Calif., Nursing) cruised to a crown last Saturday, and for her efforts she was named Heart of America Athletic Conference Women’s Wrestler of the Week Monday, presented by Musco Lighting.
Perez notched her second weekly honor after leading William Penn at the Baker Jimmy May Open last Saturday.
The freshman went 5-0 en route to the 110-pound title. She pinned three of her opponents and outscored her other two foes by a combined 26-2 margin for a pair of technical falls. The individual championship is her second of the season.
Perez improved her record to 11-8.
The award is the sixth for WPU this year.
