Penn Women Down to #28

William Penn Women's Athletics

Oskaloosa–The Lady Statesmen cagers were upset last week and, as would be expected, the loss unfortunately made an impact on the program’s national ranking as the ninth NAIA Division II poll was released yesterday.

Courtesy of its setback to Grand View last Wednesday, Penn (20-9, 11-4 MCC) dropped three slots to from #25 to #28 and currently owns 50 points this week.

Davenport (Mich.) is the nation’s #1 for the sixth week in a row with 436 points and all 16 first-place votes.  The Great Plains Athletic Conference dominates the rest of the top five with members Northwestern, Morningside, and Sioux Falls (S.D.) in positions 2-4, while St. Francis (Ind.) is fifth.

Iowa Wesleyan is again the top team in the Midwest Collegiate Conference, tying for 11th, while St. Ambrose is three behind the Tigers in 14th.  Seven programs, including four from the GPAC, represent the state of Iowa in the ranking.

The Lady Statesmen end their regular season Saturday by hosting MCC foe Ashford in Oskaloosa at 1 p.m.
