Peery Collects Season-Opening POW Award

William Penn University Athletics

Oskaloosa–Brock Peery (Jr., Payson, Utah, Payson HS) played a big part in helping #14 William Penn pick up a win in its season opener, and for his efforts, he was named Midwest League Defensive Player of the Week.

Peery posted nine tackles in the Statesmen’s 39-14 win over Iowa Wesleyan. The outside linebacker tied for the team lead in stops, including four solos and a half tackle for loss.

The navy and gold defense limited the Tigers to 258 yards of total offense, including just 81 yards after halftime. Iowa Wesleyan was held scoreless in the final two stanzas.

The award is the first for Peery.
