Pauline Dunsmoor, 86, of Oskaloosa died Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Pauline was born March 23, 1930, at Gladden Valley, Missouri, twelfth of thirteen children born to Luther and Lola Inman Hanger.

At the age of seventeen Pauline moved to Chicago and went to work at Woolworth. It was while working there that she met and fell in love with Iden “Ike” Dunsmoor. On June 24, 1950, Pauline and Ike were married in Chicago. To this union four children were born, Shelley, Cynthia, Iden, and George “Ross”. On January 12, 2013, Iden died.

Pauline and Ike moved around the Midwest for many years. Pauline would help Ike with the stores he ran, except the years she stayed home to care for her children while they were at home. In 1979, she opened at ceramic shop in Fremont, Iowa. The family later moved to Salem, Missouri, where she continued to own and operate her ceramic shop. In 1999, they retired and moved to Chariton. In 2010, Pauline and Ike moved to Oskaloosa.

She was a member of the Fremont United Methodist Church. Pauline was a very talented at crafts and handiwork, she enjoyed all types of crafting, sewing, crocheting, and quilting. She enjoyed playing card games with her family and watching butterflies. She delighted in spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Her family includes her four children: Shelley (& Michael) Carr of Eddyville, Cynthia (& Gary) Beaver of Olathe, Kansas, Iden (& Lisa) Dunsmoor of Chariton, and George “Ross” (& Conni) Dunsmoor of Russell, Iowa; ten grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great great granddaughter; a sister in law, Bertha Hanger of Chicago; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Iden, Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; a grandson, Charles Carr; a great grandson, Cassidy Dunsmoor; and many brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 23, 2016, at 6 p.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa with Reverend Andy Baker officiating.
As was Pauline’s wish her body will be cremated following the funeral ceremony. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Friday after 11 a.m. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be at the funeral chapel from 4 p.m. until service time at 6 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
Memorials may be made to the MHP Hospice Serenity House in Oskaloosa.
