Paul Glen Septer, 89, of Montezuma, Iowa passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Serenity House in Oskaloosa. Paul Glen Septer, 89, of Montezuma, Iowa was born on November 19, 1927 at Tina, Missouri to John and Mary Murphy Septer. He was the youngest of 11 children.
Paul began school at Tina and then the family moved to Salem, Iowa.
In 1946, Paul enlisted in the U.S. Army stationed in Newfoundland where he met his future bride. He was discharged in 1950 and returned to Iowa where he worked to earn enough money to purchase a Visa for his wife. Paul and Norma Jean Tuck were married on September 11, 1950 and made their home in Montezuma. They became parents of five children.
Paul worked as a mechanic and later began his preaching career. He was pastor of the First Christian Church and later founded the nondenominational Faith Christian Center.
Norma Jean passed away in 1988 and Paul and Opal Montgomery were married on May 4, 1989, blending their family into one loving happy family.
Paul loved music, the word of God, old westerns, horses, rebuilding and playing guitars, and most of all his family. He was a mentor to several pastors and served as V.P. of APEPT.
Paul is survived by his wife Opal; his children Pam (& Denny) Broadston of Montezuma, Trena (& Kelly) Septer of Oskaloosa, Faith Fisher of Oskaloosa, Judy (& Ron) Sullivan of Oklahoma City, Joan (& Boyd) Bonnett of Brooklyn, Glen Septer of Montezuma, and Jerry (& Donna) Montgomery of Altoona; 16 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
Paul is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Norma Jean; his daughter, Kathy in childhood; his brothers: Arthur, Pearl, Wayne, Harold, Roy, Orville, and Lloyd; and his sisters: Viola Cook, Elizabeth Watson and Elsie Elliott.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Faith Christian Center in Montezuma, Iowa.
Burial will be held at Salem East Cemetery at Salem, Iowa at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be designated to the Faith Christian Center Youth Building Fund.
