Oskaloosa’s On the Green To Close Jan. 15

OSKALOOSA – After 4 years and many thousands of chicken wings, burgers and other entrees, Oskaloosa restaurant On The Green will close on Jan. 13.

The owners said the decision to shutter the eatery was due to changes in various costs involved in running the restaurant and the arrival of their first child.

“This was a tough decision, as this has been my dream,” said chef/owner Pam Oldes. “But between rising costs in the industry and the need to spend more time with our
growing family, it was the right time to make room for someone else to help grow Oskaloosa’s dining options.”

Oldes and manager/owner Shayna Bruce said that while the restaurant is closing its doors, they have opened a new chapter in Oskaloosa. “We’ve purchased and are remodeling a house here in Oskaloosa,” Bruce said. “I plan on entering the job market and Pam is taking some well-deserved time off to recharge with family after a few years of 80 hour work weeks.”

“The last four years have really shown us what Oskaloosa is all about, and we want to continue to be part of that,” Oldes said. “We’re so grateful to the community for all of the
support, as well as to our employees.”

The two said that employees have all been informed of the pending closure and encouraged anyone with remaining gift certificates to use them before the 13th.

“It’s been a great ride,” Bruce said. “We’re really excited to grow our family in a place that has become our home.”
