Oskaloosa Wrestling Update

Friday –
The 2013 State High School Wrestling Tournament which started Thursday in Des Moines with 16 wrestlers in each weight class was widdled down to 8 following Friday’s quarter final and semi-final rounds.
Oskaloosa’s Cody Jones and Nate Caves were eliminated after tough matches, while Andrew Landgrebe and Dane Jones – each suffering a loss on Friday are still competing in the consolation bracket. Dane Jones can place as high as 3rd while Landgrebe is vying for 7th place. These matches should take place around 11am as 1A consolation finals kicks off at 10am.
As a team, Oskaloosa stands in 28th of 54 prior to Saturday’s competition. KIIC will be covering these matches live on 96.7FM and www.kiicradio.com. The new free KIIC Thunder Bolt app will also have results updated for your smartphone in real time.

Class 3a State Results
Friday Night Semi-finals and Semi-final consolations:
170 Oskaloosa’s Andrew Landgrebe lost to Brady Letney of Pleasant Valley 6-3 The match was tied 1-1 in the final 45 seconds. Landgrebe will have a rematch of his first round opponent for 7th or 8th place against Joe Teague of Algona. Andrew won that match in Sudden Victory period 1 – 6 to 4. The rematch takes place Saturday morning.
195 Oskaloosa’s Dane Jones loses to his Waverly Shellrock opponent Adam Walther 10-2 in the second period of his semi-final match. Jones can still place as high as 3rd and is guarunteed 6th place in 3A 195. Jones will take on 44-9 Colin Kreiter of North Scott.
Friday AM Quarterfinals
120 Oskaloosa’s Nate Caves loses to Alijah Jeffrey of LinnMar Marion 0-4. Caves is was up 4-0 when Aaron Meyer of South East Polk worked in a pin in the closing seconds of the 3rd period. In his consolation match, Caves lost to Aaron Meyer of South East Polk by pin in 5:52 and is eliminated
160 Oskaloosa’s Cody Jones lost by fall to his opponent from Pleasant Valley in his second match here at state and has been eliminated.
170 Oskaloosa’s Andrew Landgrebe goes to 4 OT tied at 2-2, but Landgrebe was able to ride out his opponent Thomas Foy for the final period and is awarded the win. Landgrebe can finish as high as 3rd and will take on Letney of Pleasant Valley
195 Oskaloosa’s Dane Jones wins 7-0 defeating Riley Prescott from Ft Dodge. Jones advances to the Semi-finals Friday night
