Oskaloosa School Board Meets in Special Session Over Late Filing

Oskaloosa School Board holds special meeting and then worksession December 6, 2011

Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa School Board met at the George Daily Auditorium Boardroom Tuesday night to vote on a School Budget Review Committee Plan of Action.

“My best efforts to file on time this year, I wasn’t able to do so. Part of the punishment, I have to submit a corrective action plan to the SBRC per their rules,” said Chad Vink, Business Manager for the Oskaloosa School System.

In the letter to the SBRC it states, “One of the primary issues challenging completion was staff not adequately preparing for the changes in various systems and account numbers. The new Tuition-In Billing Program is one example of how the Department of Education is providing a streamlined, simpler means to use technology, but our staff did not use that opportunity adequately, and subsequently complete the billing process shortly after the end of the fiscal year.”

With the adoption of the Plan of Action by the board, the school would not be required to go before the SBRC meeting that was scheduled for December 12th of this year.

Oskaloosa School Superintendent Russ Reiter in a note to the board said “I got a chance to look at his plan. It’s a good plan,” stated Reiter on Vink’s plans for future reporting.

The board passed the Plan of Action unanimously.
